Whakamanatia is a youth empowerment initiative provided by Ōrongomai Marae and is supported through Te Puni Kōkiri.
Whakamanatia is for those aged between 16-24 and will contain workshops on cyber safety, suicide prevention, and Takatāpuitanga (LGBT+ Inclusivity).
We aim to provide youth with tools, knowledge, and support to:
- Empower themselves and their whānau
- Inspire resilience and self-care techniques
- Promote identity and raise self-esteem
We are guided by Tikanga Māori and other Māori values – these influence how we work with whānau and how everybody plays an important part in shaping the future of the collective.
Our core values are:
- Kotahitanga (Unity)
- Mātauranga (Knowledge)
- Mauri Ora (Well-being)
These values lay the foundation of our service. Through Unity and practical Knowledge we can uplift our youth and further their holistic Well-being.
